US Army Graveside services for Charles Lewis Akin, 67, of Diana, will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010, in Walnut Creek Cemetery in Diana, with Bro. Ross Worley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Mr. Akin passed away March 7, 2010, at his residence.Charles was born August 14, 1942, in McKinney, Texas, to Herman Tip and Eva Irene Akin. He retired after 42 years as a Fiber Optic Technician with Lucent Technologies and had served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith.Charles is survived by his wife, Wanda Akin; son, Kelly Akin of Diana; daughter, Kerri Jahr of Diana; sister, Melba Kem of Dallas; and grandchildren, Leighton Jahr and Kaden Akin.He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Chase Akin.Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana.
