Rural Black Creek Sailor Dies in Naval Accident Seaman Lawrence "Larry" Stingle, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schwister, route 2, Black Creek, was killed in an accident at the U.S. naval station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Friday. A 1957 Graduate of Seymour High school, Stingle was stationed at Guantanamo Bay. According to the telegram from the navy department,the accident occurred while he was helping to unload a ship. Stingle went on active duty in November. He was a member of the navy reserve. Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Judy, at home. Appleton Post-Crescent, March 15, 1958. ********** Funeral Services Set For Rural Black Creek Sailor Killed in Cuba Funeral services for Seaman Lawrence "Larry" Stingle, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schwister, route 2, Black Creek, will be at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church, Black Creek, with burial in the parish cemetery. Stingle suffered a fatal head injury while helping unload a ship at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he was stationed. His body will be returned Friday under the escort of Signalman Clair Flock. The rosary will be said at 9 o'clock Friday night at the Burdick Funeral home, Black Creek. The Green Bay Navy Reserve center will send a color guard, firing squad and bugler to participate in graveside rites. The contingent will escort the cortege from the funeral home to the church and then to the cemetery. Appleton Post-Crescent, March 20, 1958.
