From the Bonham (TX) Daily Favorite , Wednesday, August 17, 1932, p. 4: Fort Worth, Aug. 16 -- The Rev. J. T. Bloodworth, pioneer Methodist minister and unsuccessful candidate for Justice of the Peace in the first primary, died at his home here Tuesday afternoon. His death marked the passing of a figure familiar to Texas Methodism for more than half a century. Obscured for the last eight years by the curtain of superannuacy, his career in its earlier years was distinguished for its Plains country flavor and its temperance fire. It began and ended as far as his most active years were concerned in the Texas Panhandle and Plains in West Texas. The Rev. Mr. Bloodworth made the campaign for Justice of the Peace and was defeated. He had but a few days' rest before he was stricken ill Saturday, Aug. 6. From the (Tucson) Arizona Daily Star , Thursday, August 18, 1932, p. 1: Word of the death of the Rev. T. J. Bloodworth at Fort Worth, Texas, was received yesterday afternoon, in Tucson. The Rev. T. J. Bloodworth was the father of the Rev. Lloyd P. Bloodworth, pastor of the Menlo Park church. Rev. Bloodworth was called to Fort Worth last week, and he and his family were at home at the time of his father's death. The Rev. T. J. Bloodworth was 74 years old, and had been a minster in the Methodist church for more than fifty years, having come to Texas in the early days and for many years was a circuit rider in western Texas.
