Bio
GRACE BERRY God called for one of his angels, Grace "Gracie" M. Berry, 89, a resident of Green Valley, Ariz., Feb. 24, 2012. Grace was born in Vango, Neb. July 6, 1922. During World War II, she worked at the Martin Bombing Plant as an electrician. One of her last projects was rewiring the B-29 bombers that later dropped "the bomb." In September 1945, she met Robert "Bob" Berry and married him June 1, 1946, in Omaha, Neb. Bob was a career military man, and he and Grace traveled and lived on many U.S. Air Force and military bases all over the country. While on base, she worked in the child care facilities and for the women's auxiliary. During her time in Green Valley, Grace served as Lady Tyler and on the women's auxiliary of Elks Lodge #2592. Grace faithfully attended mass at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, and played bingo on Tuesdays at the lodge. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony B. and Helen C. Furmanski; and her two brothers, Ali and Floyd Furmanski, both killed in action in World War II. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Berry; Linda M. Sears (daughter); Robert F. Berry (son); Gracelyn M. Berry (daughter); Jacqueline C. Berry (great-granddaughter); Tyler L. Berry (great-grandson); and many, many friends. Grace touched so many lives with her kind and sweet spirit. She truly was an angel among us and will be deeply missed by all. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Friday, March 2. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial following services at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
