Daughter of John and Veronika (Haudli?) Vesely. Married Joseph Stava on August 28, 1878 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Abie, Nebr. Sister of Anna Veronika (Vesely) Pokorny (#96119866). '''''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), November 12, 1936, p. 1, col. 5 Mrs. Mary Stava passed away at her home in Dwight on Wednesday evening, Nov. 4, following a month's illness. She was in her seventy-ninth year. Funeral services were held Friday morning at Assumption Church, Dwight, conducted by Rev. Andrew Skvarla O.S.B. assisted by Rev. Alcuin Kasny O.S.B. of Abie. Mrs. Stava is survived by three sons, Leopold and Albert Stava of Bee and Robert Stava of Dwight, and three daughters, Mrs. Frank Maixner and Mrs. Frank Kolar of Dwight and Mrs. R. J. Ably of David City. Her husband, Joseph Stava, two daughters, Mrs. Frances Jakub and Mrs. Mary Mares, and a son, Alois preceded her in death. MARY STAVA Funeral Services Were Held at Dwight Friday Morning. Dwight, Nov. 10 – Mrs. Mary Stava, 78 years, two months and 22 days of age, passed away at her home in Dwight, Wednesday, Nov. 4, following an illness of one month. Funeral services were held from Assumption church, Dwight, at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, with Rev. Andrew Skvaria, assisted by Rev. Kasny, O.S.B., of Abie, in charge. The pallbearers were William Maixner, Frank Maixner, Anton Pokorny, Fred Mazanec, Joe Mares and B. B. Marsh of David City. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Those in attendance at the funeral from a distance included Joseph Mares of Sidney, Anton Pokorny of Blencoe, Iowa, William Maixner of Prague, Leopold Stava and Albert Stava of Bee, Adrian Kadlaceck, Mrs. Earl Curry, Mrs. Frank Curry, Mrs. Joseph Kucera, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Marsh and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Ably, all from David City. Mrs. Stava was born at Broslav, Czechoslovakia, August 12, 1858, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Veseley. She was united in marriage to Joseph Stava in June 1876, at Abie. To them eight children were born three sons, Leopold Stava and Albert Stava of Bee and Robert Stava of Dwight; and five daughters, Mrs. Frank Maixner and Mrs. Frank Kolar, both of Dwight, and Mrs. Rudolph J. Ably of David City, two daughters, Mrs. Frances Jakub and Mrs. Mary Mares, preceding their mother in death. Mrs. Stava is also survived by 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stava had lived in Butler county more than 40 years, part of which time was spent at Bruno and her remaining years at Dwight. She was a member of Dwight Assumption church and the Altar society. Mrs. Stava had a wide circle of admiring friends in the community where she lived so many years as well as elsewhere. ___ Card of Thanks – We desire to express thanks to everyone who so kindly assisted us during illness and at time of death of our beloved mother, and also for the beautiful floral offerings and spiritual boquets.
