Bio
George W. Schmid, 86, of Dwight, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 8, at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, June 7 at Assumption Catholic Church. There will be no visitation and the casket will be closed. George was born April 21, 1924 on a farm near Abie, Nebraska to Joe and Albina (Zelda) Schmid. On November 20, 1945, George married Sally Janak at Assumption Church in Appleton. George lived in the Butler County area his entire life. He farmed, and did carpentry work. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles in Schuyler, and Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. George is survived by his wife, Sally, of Dwight; sons, Gary Schmid of San Diego, CA, Larry (Marian) of Hickman, and David (Renee) of Valparaiso; daughter, Judy (Jerry) Potter of Valparaiso, sisters Mildred Gaskill of North Bend and Marcella Bahns of Schuyler; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
