JOSEPHINE MARES Mrs. Josephine Mares passed away Monday, Febr. 2, at 6:00 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed. Gruntorad, after an illness of three days. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, Febr. 5, in Assumption Catholic church, Dwight. Rev. Edward Orzechwski as celebrant of the requiem high mass and music was furnished by the church choir. Mrs. Mares was born December 24, 1884 at Abie. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karel Krenk. She was married to James Mares April 7, 1902 in the Assumption church, Dwight. One daughter, Mrs. Ed Gruntorad survives her mother. She is also survived by two brothers, Frank and John Krenk of Bee, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Mares preceded her in death, July 29, 1945. Mrs. Mares lived in the Dwight community all her life. She was a devoted mother and a kind friend to everyone. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. Pallbearers were John Kantor and Emil Korinek of Bee; Anton Krenk and Frank Mares of Dwight; James Barcal of Lincoln and Joseph E. Novak of Ulysses. Interment was in Assumption cemetery. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Martha Krenk of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gruntorad and children and Mr. and Mrs. William Johannes and children of Seward; Mrs. Emma Pohl and Mrs. John Brym of David City and many relatives and friends from Ulysses, Bee and Brainard.
