Bio

Olympian, The (WA) Saturday, November 3, 2007 Olympia WA United States 1910-2007 David Rogness passed on October 30, 2007 at a local nursing home after a short hospital stay. David was born August 10, 1910 on his parents homestead in Rich Valley Township, Benson County, rural Esmond, North Dakota. After completing 8th grade at Rich Valley School, he graduated from Benson County Agriculture High School. He moved to Fargo, North Dakota to attend NDAC, where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1931. He was employed by the North Dakota Highway Department for a period of time. He was also a partner with his brother in farming the homestead of his parents. The US Government employed him at Omaha Nebraska for a period of time. With war approaching, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Sea Bees in the Pacific area. After being discharged, he returned to farming and served as County Surveyor. In 1968 he retired from farming and moved to Oregon, where he and his brother kept busy remodeling houses and restoring classic and antique autos. In 1987 he moved to Olympia, Washington, where he resided until his death. He is survived by nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be Monday November 5, 11:00 a.m. at Firlane Park, Spanaway, Washington.
