Son of John (Ego) & Julia (Speicher) Kopetzky. Married to Lucille Schroeder on 6-2-1952. COLUMBUS - Walter H. Kopetzky, 77, 922 Fifth St., died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at Mory's Haven in Columbus. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Chris Grimmond officiating. Burial is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post 84 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Tuesday with a 7 p.m. vigil and 8-10 a.m. Wednesday, all at McKown Funeral Home. Mr. Kopetzky was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Platte County to John "Ego" and Julia (Speicher) Kopetzky. He graduated from Kramer High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46. He married Lucille Schroeder June 2, 1952, in Columbus. He worked as an auto mechanic for various shops and then was a rural mail carrier for 17 years. He was a member of the church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Hartman Post 84 American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Ward 3704, Scotus Shamrock Club and Perpetual Ado- ration. He was a past commander of the Disabled AmericanVeterans and served on the Legion Honor Guard. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jeanne (Carl) DeRuyscher of Leavenworth, Kan., Kathy (Raleigh) Haas of McCook and Julie (Roy) Yardley of Lincoln; two sons, John (Patty) of Lincoln and Kent (Amy) of Omaha; one sister, Grace Oppliger of Columbus; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, four brothers and two infant grandchildren.
