Funeral service for Mr. Russell Wayne Norton, 73, of Garrison, Texas will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 10:00 AM at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Sonny Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Texas. Mr. Norton was born on December 11, 1938, in Haynesville, Louisiana to the late Russell Meredith and Maggie Mae Kirkpatrick Norton. He passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012, in Nacogdoches. Russell was raised in Clairborne Parrish, Louisiana. He graduated from high school in Magnolia, Arkansas. He served his country in the US Army and was married to the love of his life, Leola Ross Norton, for 40 years. Russell was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked to play pool. He had worked as a reserve deputy and jailer and also at RR Donelly for 34 years before his retirement. He had also been a member of the Kilgore Police Academy. Russell is survived by his wife, Leola Ross Norton of Garrison; son, J.T. Frazier, Sr. and wife, Tera of Franklin, TN; brother, David Norton and wife, Anne of Nacogdoches; two grandchildren, James Frazier, Jr. and wife, Dottie of Watauga, Texas and Jim Bob Frazier and wife, Ingrid of Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Shada Frazier also of Tyler; as well as numerous friends and other extended family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, from 6-8 PM at Laird Funeral Home.
