Bio

Asa married Sarah Adkins on March 4, 1841 in Campbell County, Tennessee. They had ten children: William, Elizabeth, George Washington, John Ace, Sr. (Find A Grave Memorial#12108908), Sheridan, James W. (Find A Grave Memorial#13792718), Sarah Jane, Viney M., Nelson (Find A Grave Memorial#83758745) and Louisa. Asa enrolled in the Union Army on 2 Sep 1863 at Casey County, Kentucky and was mustered in as a Private on 23 Dec 1863 at Columbia, Kentucky in Company B, 13th Regiment of Kentucky Cavalry Volunteers. Asa died of disease, Typhoides Fibris (typhoid fever), contracted in the line of duty in the Army hospital at Columbia, Kentucky on 1 March 1864. He was later reburied, as were many others, in the Mill Springs National Cemetery with a tombstone marked "Unknown".
