'''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), November 25, 1943, p. 2, col. 2 FORMER DWIGHT RESIDENT Died at Lincoln Home November 10, Burial at Dwight Dwight, Nov. 20 – Philip Collins, 55, formerly of Dwight, died suddenly at his home in Lincoln during the night of November 10. Mr. Collins, an employe of the Cushman Motor Works in Lincoln since October 2, 1942, and one of the company employees to receive the army and navy "E" pins on October 4, 1943, worked all day preceding his death that night. Funeral services were held in Sacred Heart church, Lincoln, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, with Rev. Howard Hart officiating. Six employes of the Cushman Motor Works acted as pallbearers. For the burial services in Assumption cemetery at Dwight the pallbearers were John Liska, Frank Makovicka, Louis Makovicka, Emil Prochaska, Charles Novacek and Frank Prochaska. Burial was by the grave of Mr. Collins' son, Philip, Jr., who died in infancy. Born in Lefkas, Greece on November 27, 1887, Philip Collins came to the United States in November, 1908, landing at New York on his 21st birthday. Soon after he came to Nebraska and started working as a track man for the Chicago & Northwestern railroad company. In 1916 he became a section foreman at Dwight. He was married to Miss Emily Prochaska, Dwight, on August 31,1918, who with one son, Petty Officer 3/c Richard Collins of the navy, survives him. Stationed at Wildwood, N.J., the son came and was in attendance at the funeral service.
