Evelyn Capellen, 95, of Ravenna died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Scott Evans will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Mrs. Capellen was born May 22, 1917, in Sweetwater to Eugene and Rose (Whittera) Bauer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Capellen. Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Eugene Chramosta of Gibbon and Karen and Thad Rueter of Murdock; a son, Gary Capellen of Grand Island; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was educated in Sweetwater and Ravenna. She married Lawrence Capellen on Oct. 26, 1935, in Minden. They made their home and farmed near Sweetwater. In 1946, they moved to a farm near Poole and they retired to Ravenna in 1980. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Together with her husband, they created Littleton, enjoyed gardening and her family. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Lester Bauer.
