From The Phonograph-Herald, September 18, 1974, page 9, transcribed by Linda Berney: Last Rites Held for P. P. Sevcik - [Funeral details]....Burial was in the family lot in St. Wenceslaus cemetery. Peter Paul Sevcik was born west of St. Paul on June 29, 1884 to Albert and Katherine (Trubl) Sevcik. He grew to manhood in the Midway community where he received his education. He farmed with his father. On February 16, 1909, he was married to Frances Kudrna at Omaha. They farmed at Midway until 1968 when they moved to Elba. In 1969 they moved to St. Paul. Mrs. Sevcik died January 11, 1971. Mr. Sevcik continued to live in St. Paul. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic faith. He had been a member of St. Wenceslaus parish most of his life, where he also served as church trustee for over 50 years. In his active years, he served on the school board of District No. 27, was a member of Farmers Union co-op, and had served on the Howard County Fair Board. Surviving him are his children, a son George of Atkinson, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. Henrietta Hill of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Mrs. Edward (Mildred) Jares Jr., of Elba; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Emil, his wife Frances; five brothers, Frank, Theodore, Albert, Jacob and John; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Svoboda and Mrs. Mary Delaney.
