Bio

Terezie Pokorny Blaha was born in Abrnensky Okres Tnojima, Czech Republic (Bohemia). She is the daughter of Matej Pokorny and Frantiska Pisarowitz. -- From The St. Paul Republican, Thursday, June 7, 1906, page 8, transcribed by Linda Berney: Death again visited this vicinity Wednesday when Mrs. Matt Blaha suddenly passed away at her home, southwest of town. She died from the effects of a paralytic stroke, or apoplexy. She had just set down to dinner when she was stricken, dying in a few moments. She had been in poor health of late years, still her sudden demise was a shock to her many friends. She was born in Bohemia seventy-six years ago and moved to America while a young woman, arriving in Howard county three years ago and settling on the farm where she died. She was among the early settlers and was well and favorably known. Her husband and eight children, four boys and four girls, are left to mourn her loss. The funeral will be held Friday from the Warsaw Catholic church, of which she was a devout and consistent member.
