Havre Daily News, Havre, MT, June 3, 1956 John N. Stefl Homesteader John N. Stefl, 76, prominent Hingham area farmer, died Saturday in a local hospital and funeral services are set for Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Hingham Catholic church. Mr. Stefl was born December 27, 1879, at Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He was married November 12, 1907, at Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to Barbara Frolik. They came to Montana in 1912 and homesteaded 20 miles south of Hingham. Mr. Stefl also did some blacksmith work when he first came to Montana and later continued it as a hobby. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Fred Koho, Port Angeles, Washington, and Miss Clara Stefl, Hingham; two sisters, Mrs. William Yechout, Phoenix, Arizona, and Mrs. Julie Fencel, Rice Lake, Wisconsin; a brother, Frank, Rice Lake, and four grandchildren. Two sons, Clarence and Laurence, lost their lives in July l, 1937, when they drowned in a reservoir where they had been swimming. --- Parents: Frank and Anna (Krezec) Stefl
