Married Dena Markus on February 11, 1874 at La Motte, Iowa. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Peoples Banner ( David City, Nebr.), February 14, 1907, p. 4, col. 5 Peter Phillips, after a short illness, died at the family residence Saturday evening last. Funeral was held Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church east of Bellwood, conducted by Father Hoffman. Deceased was aged 55 years and seven months. He was one of the prosperous farmers on the valley and was held in high esteem by all who became acquainted with him. A sorrowing wife and nine children – 4 girls and 5 boys – all of whom deplore the loss of a loving husband and father. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community. – Bellwood Gazette
