Lincoln Journal Star (NE) - August 29, 1998 - Accident Report Deceased Name: Joe and Mary Cherovsky: Couple dies in crash near Mead MEAD (AP) -- An elderly Wahoo couple died Friday after a semitractor trailer struck their car nearly head-on at a highway intersection near Mead. Joe and Mary Cherovsky, both 83, were killed at about 9 a.m. in the accident at the junction of U.S. 77 and Nebraska 92, west of Mead, the Saunders County Sheriff's Department said. The Cherovskys' vehicle turned in front of the oncoming semi before the collision, police said. The couple was transported to the Saunders County Hospital in Wahoo where they were pronounced dead. It was not known who was driving the car. Both victims were wearing seat restraints, police said. The death brought the number of fatalities on Nebraska roads this year to 184, compared with 164 by Aug. 28, 1997.
