"Mrs. Annie McMellen, 72, mother of Walter G. McMellen, 505 North Grand, died at her home in Slater, Mo., Monday at 6 a.m., death being due to a heart attack. Mrs. McMellen was born May 26, 1887, in Nodaway, Kan., daughter of the late William and Mary Baublit. On Oct. 3, 1903, she was married to Walter C. McMellen who preceded her in death June 13, 1948. Mrs. McMellen was a member of the Church of God in Slater. Surviving are nine children, Walter G. McMellen of Sedalia, Raymond C. and Ollie T. of Slater, William E. McMellen of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. C. E. Peel of Slater, Mrs. E. A. Taylor of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Harold Barnes and Mrs. Lee Sinnett of Marshall and Mrs. Edward F. Alspan of Brea, Calif. Funeral arrangements are incomplete awaiting arrival of children from California and other states, but tentative plans are for services at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Slater."
