father: Anton Louis Korenek mother: Julia Dybala Anton "Tony" Korenek of Houston, Texas passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Tony was born June 27, 1922 to Anton and Julie Korenek in Schulenburg, Texas. Tony was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He was a veteran of W.W. II and a charter member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He retired from Southline Metal Products Co. in 1987 after 41 years of service and continue in an advisory capacity until his death. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12474. He was a member of the St. Ambrose Men's Club, the St. Ambrose Golden Youth Club and served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Usher and Sacristan at St. Ambrose. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and being involved in his church activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Julie Korenek and his brother Jim Korenek. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Alice Adamcik Korenek; children, Barbara Poche, Tom Korenek, Sharon Gammell, Andy and wife Debbie Korenek, all of Houston; grandchildren, James Poche and wife Janice, Billy Poche, Jeffrey Poche, Carrie Gammell and Matthew Poche; sisters, Frances Herzik of Weimar, TX, and Bertha Anaiser of Houston, TX; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at Earthman Hunters Creek on Friday, March 14, 2003, beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a wake service and rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd., on Saturday, March 15, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with visitation at the church from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd., Houston, Texas 77092.
