☆～ VETERAN, WORLD WAR II (1939-1945) ～☆ James E. "Jim" West, 88, of David City, NE. died Friday July 27, 2012 at the Butler County Health Care Center, David City, NE. James was born on March 26, 1924 to Harry and Anna (Ladwig) West at Bellwood. Jim served in the US Army for six years. He was united in marriage to Helen Sloup in December of 1949 at the Wahoo United Methodist Church. He then spent 10 years doing construction and 26 years as a factory worker at Becton Dickinson. He also was a carpenter. Jim enjoyed many hobbies, but most of all, he loved beekeeping. He was a member of the Bellwood United Methodist Church and Bellwood American Legion Post #0327. He was a lifelong resident of Bellwood until moving to David Place in 2009. Survivors are: daughter, Diane Stricklin; son, Norman (Linda) West; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Thelma Hascall and brothers Harry and John (Pearl) West. Jim was preceded in death by: wife, Helen West in 2006; parents and sisters Doris West, Lois Backman and Florence Kamenske. Graveside Service was at the Bellwood Cemetery, Bellwood, NE.
