Headstone indexed in February, 1956 by the Chief Tusquahoma Chapter DAR for the book, "Louisiana Tombstone Inscriptions: Volume I Ouachita Parish". The News-Star has an obituary for Mr. Roberts in the October 22, 1948 issue. It states he was survived by sons John I. (Venice, LA) and Clifford R. (Monroe, LA; principal of Millsaps School in West Monroe), daughters Mrs. C.N. Anderson, Mrs. E.D. Johnson, Mrs. Ruth Roye and Mrs. C.E. Feazel (West Monroe, LA), Mrs. John M. Dumas and Mrs. W.W. Goodwin (El Dorado, AR) and Mrs. P.E. Orpit (Canina, CA). a sister, Mrs. J. Lee Hester (Choudrant, LA). Thirty grandchildren and forty-eight great grandchildren also survived him. he was a charter member of First Baptist Church, West Monroe, a member of Masonic Lodge 419 and had been a resident of West Monroe for twenty years. The abstract of his death certificate, found on familysearch, states he was born in Alabama to Jesse Roberts and Sarah Simmons. He died at Monroe.
