STRONG Margaret Obituary 2008 Source: Hillsdale Daily News, The (Michigan) Published: Monday, May 19, 2008 Margaret Jean Strong, 83, of Quincy, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Community Health Center of Branch County with her family by her side. Born March 22, 1925 in St. Joseph County, she was the daughter of Earl and Ruth (Craft) Hammond. She married Russell W. Strong on March 12, 1943 in St. Joseph County, and he preceded her in death February 9, 2008. Following high school, she worked at E. Hill & Sons State Bank in Colon. After she and Russell were married, she became a homemaker and partner on their farm in Algansee Township. Margaret loved flowers, gardening, birds and watching nature. She was a 4-H Leader for many years and taught crafts at local, county and state levels. She was especially skilled in cake decorating and sugar molding. Survivors include her sons, Nathan A. Strong, Kalamazoo and Gene R. (Ann) Strong, Reading; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Sacelia, Jessica and Keegun Strong; one sister, Mary Ann (Chuck) Nightingale, Colon. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brother (Merle) and sister (Maxine). Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the George White Funeral Home, Quincy, with Pastor Trent Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in Knauss Cemetery, Kinderhook Township. Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials to the Branch County 4-H fair are suggested.
