Elizabeth aka Nancy Hale According to Cherokee County Heritage, Vol II, No. 2, April 1973, Elizabeth was b. ca 1812. She is listed as "Nancy" in "Pioneer Settlers of Virginia" but listed as "Elizabeth in 1850 Cherokee County, Alabama census. She died 1852 in Cherokee County, Alabama at age 40. She married (1) George Washington (G.W.)Hale, son of Lewis Hale and Elizabeth Bourne (2) William Shackleford ca 1842. Cherokee County Heritage lists children of G.W. Hale and Elizabeth Hale as follows: 1 Jane Hale, born 1834 2 ____ Hale (daughter) born ca 1838 3 Elis Hale, born ca q838 4 Nancy Hale, born ca 1939. Married John H. Brewer who died while serving CSA.
