SAN JOSE, Calif.--Fred Prewitt, 77, of San Jose, died Monday at a care home there. Graveside services were Friday at Wheatland, Wyo., with burial there. Mr. Prewitt was born in August of 1897, in North Carolina, the son of W. B. and Jane Candle Prewitt. As a small child, he moved with his parents to the Wolbach (Nebraska) community where he received his education and grew to manhood. He married Lucille Greathouse. The couple ranched in western Nebraska and later at Wheatland, Wyo. Retiring several years ago, they moved to San Jose to reside near a daughter. Survivors include his widow; one son, Bryant of Camp Verde, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Shirley) Moffett of San Jose and Mrs. George (Carol) Marlott of Yoder, Wyo.; one brother, Warren of Wheatland; six sisters, Mrs. Ben (Pearle) Marrs of Carson, Iowa, Mrs. Arthur (Effie) Johnson of Bozeman, Mont., Mrs. Ralph (Ethel) Sutton of Grand Island, Mrs. Leonard (Minnie) Sweeney of Chandler, Ariz., Mrs. Ivan (Alice) Hage of Prescott, Ariz., and Mrs. William (June) McPherson of Pendelton, Ore.; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
