Thursday, May 1, 1947 Truman Sweet Passes at His Home Thursday Apr. 24 Truman Albert Sweet died at his home in Central City Thursday afternoon, April 24, following a long illness, at the age of 73 years, five months and six days. He was born Nov. 18, 1873, the son of Albert and Phoebe Annis Sweet in Fayette county. He spent nearly all of his life in Iowa with the exception of a few years residence in South Dakota. He was united in marriage Oct. 1, 1902 to Myrtle Shew, who survives him. Also surviving are a brother, George, of Central City and a sister, Mrs. May McAdaragh of Manchester. Two brothers preceded him in death. Nine nephews, five nieces and several grandnieces also survive. Mr. Sweet was a devoted husband, a hard worker, highly respected and a friend of many who knew him. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Hatch chapel by the Rev. Fred Samek. Burial was in the Coggon cemetery. Those from a distance attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Sweet and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David Grommons, Mrs. Floyd Parsons, Mrs. Emil Zeithamel and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Rose and Donald Doughtery, all of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Ed McAdaragh, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Abrahms and son, Mr. and Mrs. John Carradus, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Carradus, Mr. and Mrs. George McDowell and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Carridus, all of Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Grommons, Mrs. Lucy Soebes, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kuber and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Sweet of Marion.
