Preceded by husb., Fred Haney. ==== Ethel Maxine Jacobs, 86, a retired supervisor for Southwestern Bell, went to be with Jesus, Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Chapel at the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, 800 West 5th Street. Burial: Following committal services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Ethel will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, 5503 South Hwy. 69, Greenville, TX. Visitation: Friends may call at Shannon North Funeral Chapel, 111 W. Northside Drive after noon Sunday. Ethel Maxine Patzolt Jacobs, the daughter of Fritz and Mattie Patzolt, was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Rosser. She began school in Scurry and graduated as valedictorian of New London High School in 1934. She was a feature editor in Breckenridge and New London newspapers. She was an accomplished artist often doing watercolors of oil fields from her back steps. In 1936 she graduated from Wesley College in Greenville and married Fred Haney. Maxine was a 50 year and life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mesquite Chapter 887, and was named Worthy Matron, 1956-1957. She was a member of the Past Patrons and Matrons Club of Dallas. She was a past mother advisor of Rainbow Assembly 668 of Mesquite and was awarded the Grand Cross of Color for outstanding work with young girls. Maxine was also a member of the Business & Professional Womens Club of Dallas and Southwestern Bell Pioneers of America. She retired as a supervisor after 38 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Dallas. After she broke her hip in 1990, Maxine moved to Fort Worth and was cared for by her children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and UMW Circle A-1. She was known for her great sense of humor, her love of children and her devoted faith in God. Survivors: Daughter, Ernestine Joy Williams of Fort Worth; son, Ken Haney and wife, Sheryl of Colleyville; grandchildren, Kara Shea and husband, Scott of Clearlake, Sonja Williams, Brian Haney and wife, Candice, Kelli Dix and husband, Charles and Julie Grabowski, all of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Bailey Shea of Clearlake, Joel and Joshua Haney and Brandon Dix of Dallas; brother, Herman Patzolt of Fort Worth; and special hospice friend, Jennifer Vega.
