Ricky Royce Belknap, born October 12, 1953, in Brownfield, Texas, was called to heaven on March 4, 2011, after battling pneumonia. He was surrounded by many loved ones who he spent his life protecting and making proud. He is greatly missed by his adoring and devoted wife of 33 years, Donna, and by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Destiny and Josh Varghese, who model their marriage after the example set by their parents. Rick is survived by his parents, James and Audrey Louise Belknap; siblings Nedra Belknap, Stormy Rouse (Willie), and Mark Belknap (Betty); uncles Dennis Ray "Bud" Ingram, Wylie Harold "Pete" Ingram, R.Q. Ingram, and Robert Belknap and aunt Nellie Irene Tripp; mother-in-law Dottie Cortez (Jesse); and sisters-in-law Teri Hampton (Timothy), Karen Santilli (Tony), and Lori Candrian (Curt). He was Uncle Rick to 10 nieces and nephews, Stacey Westbrook, Christopher McBay, Mandee Cloud, Sean Belknap, Matthew Landsdale, Joshua Miles, Natasha Dennis, Travis McMillon, and Carter and Samantha Candrian; 9 great-nieces and -nephews, Kristina Brawner, Steven Westbrook, Magan Westbrook, Heather and Tiffany Carpenter and Haylee McBay, Jade and Spencer Dennis, and Betty Ruth Landsdale; and a great-great-niece and -nephew, Sarah and Aidan Brawner — all of whom he loved as his own children. Rick is greeted in heaven by his grandparents Solon and Gladys Ingram and James and Donna Belknap; aunt Addie Belle "Sis" Humphrey; uncles Calvin "Cat" Ingram, William H. "Cotton" Ingram, J.C. "Red" Ingram; and many ancestors that he and Donna had spent time researching together over the past year. Rick was a good, strong man with a tender heart, and he will be missed by all who knew him. He lived a true love story with his soulmate, Donna, and he never failed to show affection and express his love for his family and friends. He was an old soul with a love of history, studying sunken Spanish galleons, the Lewis and Clark expeditions, legends of buried treasure, General George S. Patton, and Native American culture. But he was also a big kid, always wrestling with his daughter, nieces and nephews and dedicating many years to coaching pee-wee football. He loved the outdoors, from boyhood and into his profession as a land surveyor and travels with his wife. He loved cooking and concocting recipes, and he loved Sunday coffee with his best friend, Darrell Baser. The Celebration of Life Service and Reception will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 2:11 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 820 Pioneer Road, Mesquite, TX 75149. The time of the service, 2:11, honors Rick and Donna's anniversary, Feb. 11, and their complete devotion to each other.
