Bio

Beulah was born in Wet Prarie, Arkansas to Joseph Albert , and Molissie Alice (Stalcup) Skaggs. Beulah was their 4th child, John Arthur being the eldest, followed by Viola Alice , then Pearl Sarah , with Albert Wesley being the youngest. Beulah married Oscar Madestis Burrows on 17 Sep 1928 in Bentonville, Arkansas, afterwards settling in Bourbon County, KS, where they later became the proud parents of two sons. Oscar and Beulah acquired/managed and operated the 'Bronson Locker Plant', located on Main Street, in Bronson, KS for about 20 years. They were well respected members of the Bronson community. They retired and sold the locker in 1966, and moved to a small farm located on Highway 54 between Fort Scott, KS, and Deerfield, MO. They lived there for a number of years, then bought a house in Fort Scott, KS, then later sold THAT house and bought a smaller house in Fort Scott, where they both lived until advanced age prevented them from living without assistance. Due to failing health, Oscar was moved to the 'Fort Scott Manor' in approximately 1996. In 1999, Beulah was moved to the 'Hillside Guest Home' because of her failing health. Beulah passed away at the Fort Scott Hospital (Fort Scott, KS), on 10 Jan 2000, from combined complications of the flu, and a heart attack. Oscar passed away in the Fort Scott (Mercy Hospital) on 15 May 2001 at approximately 12:30 A.M. He is buried beside his wife Beulah, in the Bronson Cemetery. Oscar and Beulah were wonderful grandparents, who are dearly missed. *********************************************** My thanks to my cousin Nancy, for creating this memorial, as I know Beulah thought SO much of you and your husband.
