Funeral services for Keith E. Nelson, 45, were held Saturday, Dec. 14 at 12 noon in the First-Fifth Ward chapel, under the direction of Wilford Hoglund, of the First Ward bishopric. Mr. Nelson died from a heart attack near Fairfield, Utah County, after his truck stalled as he was looking for a Christmas tree. He had gone with a companion, Garn Dunsdon, also of Pleasant Grove, to the area south of Fairfield on Tuesday, Dec. 10, when their car broke down. They spent the night around a camp fire and started for help Wednesday. Mr. Dunsdon said that Mr. Nelson complained of not feeling well, slumped over and collapsed a few minutes later. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Lehi Hospital. Speakers who paid tribute to the life of the deceased were Elvin Thorne and Lewis J. Harmer, neighbors. Mr. Hoglund spoke closing words of sympathy and hope. Brent Peterson sang the vocal solos, "In My Father's House" and "I Need Thee Every Hour," accompanied by Donna Johnson. Joanne Walker and Joanne Brady sang "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Pauline Olpin. Family prayer at the mortuary was led by Bishop Paul Blackhurst. E. Dee Olpin asked the invocation and Hyrum Bradley pronounced the benediction. The grave in the Lehi Cemetery was dedicated by James C. Hansen. Pallbearers were Garn Dunsdon, Carl Richins, John Richins, Wayne Nelson, Leland Nelson, Lee Crab, Russell Peterson and Myron Jense. Flowers were cared for and luncheon arranged by the First Ward Relief Society. Keith E. Nelson was born March 8, 1918, in Pleasant Grove, a son of Raymond and Ann Hansen Nelson. He was educated in the local schools and was a carpenter by occupation. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Mary Richins, April 17, 1947. They were later divorced. He is survived by his former wife and one son and three daughters, Dennis, Kathy, Joyce and Marilyn, all of Pleasant Grove. Also surviving are his parents of Pleasant Grove, one brother and one sister, Howard Nelson, Provo and Mrs. Hyrum (Dorothy Ann) Bradley, Bountiful.
