Thanks to contributor #48796369 Edward W. Hulinsky, 72, of Ashton died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. The Rev. Louis A. Nollette will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery at Ashton, with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 108 of Ashton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, with a 7:30 vigil service. Peters Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hulinsky was born June 15, 1932, on a farm southwest of Elyria in Valley County to Frank W. and Emma (Bruha) Hulinsky. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Loretta Hulinsky; five daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Gary Kuszak of Ashton, Joyce and Jim Kowalewski of Kearney, Jackie and Jim LaFollette of Lincoln, Karen and Gary Kowalewski of Gothenburg and Kay and Kevin Einspahr of Arcadia; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Therese Hulinsky of Ashton, Joe and Sandi Hulinsky of Arcadia, Jerome and Cheryl Hulinsky of St. Paul; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Ilene Hulinsky of Broken Bow; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Emma and Ivan Stones Sr. of Kearney and Rosie and Don Jeffres of Burwell. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren, Regina, Brian, Raechelle, Alicia, Matthew, Olivia, Alex, Morgan, Amanda, Bryce, Kari, Zac, Abby, Jordyn, Jarred, Elizabeth and Ashley; five great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Josie, Isaac, McKenzie and Ella; and numerous nieces and nephews. He attended school at District 30 in Valley County and farmed with his dad. In 1953, he began serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, reaching the rank of sergeant. He received the Korean, United Nations, National Defense, and Good Conduct medals. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Loretta Waskowiak May 5, 1956, in Loup City. The couple lived in Valley County for three years and Hays County for four years. They returned to Sherman County, where he drove a stack moving truck. He also worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island for three years, later working in construction. In 1980, Edward started working at Monfort (Con Agra) in Grand Island for the next 15 years. After he retired, he raised exotic pheasants, ducks, geese and turkeys. He was also a licensed taxidermist. He enjoyed his 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, his dog, Queenie, listening to Bohemian music, gardening, hunting, playing cards, football and horse races. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and an active member of the American Legion Post 108. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kenny Hulinsky.
