Mrs. Frank Barta, 81, Dies; Rites Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Barta, a long time Center resident, who died April 11 at Indianola, Ia., were conducted at Hengstler's Chapel here Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Richard Hartshorn, minister of the Center Congregational church, officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred LaFrenz, Charles Stevenson, Jack Crosly, James Danaher, Charles Clark and Ora Ballard. Rose Agnes Shimanek was born Feb. 14, 1881, at Crete. She attended school there and later took a stenographic course in Lincoln. She was maried to Frank A. Barta on Nov. 26, 1906 at Crete. She homesteaded with her husband in South Dakota and later moved to Verdigre where Mr. Barta owned a hardware and implement store. The couple moved to Center in 1912 when Mr. Barta became clerk of the district court. He later practiced law in Center and became county judge in 1943. Mrs. Barta lived in Center until 1960 when she moved to Indianola to live with a daughter. Mrs. Barta was an active worker in the Center Congregational Church and the Knox County Red Cross chapter. She was a member of the Creighton chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She also served as a full time stenographer for her husband in his law office. She is survived by two daughters, June O. Evens of Indianola and Janice A. Ambrose of South Gate, Calif.; three grandsons and a sister, Mrs. Mae Prokop of Friend.
