Bio

Inez Cox was born in Plainview, OK to parents, Michael E. and Birdie (Lowry) Derrick, on October 23, 1923 and passed away August 6, 2010. She graduated from Wilburton High School in 1940 and completed two years of college at Eastern Oklahoma A&M College in Wilburton. She later continued her college work at East Central State College in Ada, graduating in 1947. On March 28, 1948, Inez married Billy Stanley Cox in Ada, OK and moved to Oklahoma City, where he was employed. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for the Department of Public Welfare, Wilson Packing Co. and Ford Motor Co. before she quit to stay at home to care for her two daughters. In 1963 she started working as secretary/bookkeeper for Hadson Oil & Gas Co. owned by Harry G. Hadler and Gerald N. Eason and continued to work for them in several different ventures until about 1978. She continued to work for Mr. Hadler even after her retirement in 1987, keeping books for him until her death. Inez and her family were active members at Northwest Christian Church since 1952. She was church treasurer for 13 years in a voluntary position. Through the years, she and Bill were Sunday School teachers, worked with the youth and served the church in many capacities. She was a member of the Crusaders' Sunday School class all these years as well. Inez loved to play games and work puzzles, especially crossword puzzles, which she worked daily with her dear friend, Bob Harris. Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, in 2004; and by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki, and husband, Dan Logan, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Cathy, and husband, Wayne Isaacs, of Oklahoma City; 4 granddaughters: Laurie Logan Cleveland and husband, Michael Cleveland, of Tucson, AZ; Darcie Logan St.Cyr and husband, Adam St.Cyr, of Aurora, IL; Kallie Logan of Oklahoma City; Kelsie Isaacs of Miami, FL; one grandson, Michael Isaacs of New York City; and four great-granddaughters: Evvie and Corbyn Cleveland and Kamden and Lainey St.Cyr. Also, sister, Marjorie Harnsberger of Ardmore, OK; and sister, Zela Hanson, and husband, Roy Hanson, of Tulsa, OK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at Northwest Christian Church on Wednesday, August 11, at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Northwest Christian Church at 2828 NW 30th, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
