Funeral services for George Monroe Guy, retired Illinois Central employee, were held at 3:30 Friday afternoon from East McComb Baptist Church. Mr. Guy was 75 at his death at 11:22 Thursday morning at the I. C. Hospital in New Orleans. He was a native of Lincoln County but had lived in McComb and vicinity for almost all his long and useful Christian life. He had been in declining health for some years. His home was at 829 Pearl River Avenue. Rev. Earl C. Edwards, pastor of East McComb Baptist Church, was officiating minister, with the following serving as pallbearers, Messrs. Theo Holmes, E. L. Smith, C. B. White, J. E. White, Edward Etheridge and Joe McCullough. He leaves his wife; three sons, A. W. and D. C. Guy, both of McComb, and D. H. Guy, Montana; a stepson, Brewer Dunaway, McComb; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Wood Guyton, McComb; two sisters, Mrs. Sim Cothern and Mrs. Dock Ham, both of Jayess; two brothers, Griff Guy, McComb, and John Guy, Jayess; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of services. Published in The McComb Enterprise-Journal (MS), Friday, July 6, 1951
