The North Loup Loyalist, June 03, 1932: Louise Mary (Weber) Kasson Mrs. H. D. Kasson Sr. Called By Death. After an illness of several weeks Mrs. Louise Kasson passed away about six o'clock last Thursday evening at the Weekes hospital in Ord. Her weakened system was unable to withstand the heart trouble following an attack of flu. Funeral services were held Sunday, at 2:30 p.m., at the M. E. church, following a brief service at the home. Rev. Schwabauer preached the sermon from the text "I know that my Redeemer livith." Several selections were sung by Leslie Greene, Roy Hudson, Genevieve Hoeppner and Mrs. Schwabauer with Ruth Hutchins at the piano. Pall bearers were Frank Rundy, Clifford Klingler, Ches Chim, Art Willoughby, Harry Klinginsmith and Otto Hartz. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery at Scotia where Mr. Kasson and several of the children are buried. Louise Mary, daughter of Theodore and Christine Weber and wife of the late Henry D. Kasson, was born in Cleveland, Ohio August 2, 1863 and died at Weekes Hospital in Ord, Nebraska, May 26, 1932, age 68 years, 9 months and 24 days. Mrs. Kasson's early life was spent in Aurora, Ill., where her parents operated a soap and dye factory for a number of years. Here while just a child she began to learn her first lesson in industry and thrifty working with her parents in the factory. She was but 13 when her mother died, and she then with her father, and three brothers, came to Lincoln, Nebraska and from Lincoln moved in a covered wagon to Beaver City where a home was again established until her fathers death a few years later. When Mrs. Kasson's father died she went to live for a few years with Mrs. Wood of Beaver City, a friend of the family who received her kindly and treated her as a member of her own household. Mrs. Kasson remembered the kindness of this good woman all her life. It was here that Louise Mary Weber met Henry D. Kasson. They were married in Philadelphia October 20, 1881. They immediately moved to Valley County where they settled on a homestead occupied by them until within the last few years. They came as pioneers to this country and at first lived in a dug out, carted groceries home from the village on a wheelbarrow, and endured all the other rigors of the early pioneer day. Mr. Kasson passed away in 1928. Ten children came to bless the home. Burton who died at the age of 9 years, Lee who died at 16, Gertrude Klinginsmith of St. Paul, Orpha L. of Omaha, Russel of North Loup, Ethel Fish of Ord, a twin brother of Ethel's who died in infancy, Mary Porter who died in Chicago, February 22, 1922, H. D. Junior of North Loup and Charles of Lakeland, Florida. Mrs. Kasson was a member of the Royal Neighbors and also of the Auxiliary of the American Legion. She was baptized, in the Catholic Church in infancy. But coming to maturity claimed the Methodist Church as her choice and attended services so long as she was able to do so. She had not been in good health for some time. But just a few weeks ago she was stricken with a heart trouble from which she never really rallied. She leaves to mourn her departure, besides the children, a brother Henry Weber of Beaver City, 3 step-children, T. D. Kasson of Wilsonville, Nebr., Dan Kasson of Elba, Nebr., Mrs. Herman DeMoss of Hendly, Nebr., 19 grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends.
