Wife of Luther Dee Batson Daughter of John Fulton Morriss and Grace (Palmer) Morriss Barbara Elaine (Morriss) Batson Sept 12, 1938 - Apr 17, 2012 Barbara Elaine Batson, 73 of Corsicana, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012 with her family at her side in Corsicana. She was born in Houston, Texas to John Morriss and Grace Palmer Morriss. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Corsicana. She loved to cook for her family and friends, sharing recipes, and reading. The pride of her life was her family and she took every opportunity to show them her love. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Luther D. Batson, son James Batson, grandson Austin, and a sister Judy Niemann. Left to cherish her memory are her children Debbie Parten, Lynda Batson, and Mark Batson, all of Corsicana; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Jeannie Hester of Henderson and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Thursday morning, April 19, 2012 at 11a.m. in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home with Rev. B. F. Risinger Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. Arrangments under the direction of Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home.
