Ruth Goates Wing, 91, died peacefully at her home Sunday, October 10, 2004, in Lehi, Utah. She was born in Lehi on November 9, 1912, a daughter of John and Winnifred Glover Goates. She was married to Glenn John Wing on December 15, 1933, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was educated in the Lehi schools and worked for the Alpine School District as a teacher's aid at the Dan W. Peterson School for several years. She served as a teacher in the Sunday School, as president and teacher of the Mutual Improvement Association, in the presidency of the Relief Society, as coordinator of the Jr. Sunday School, as ward librarian for 15 years, as Relief Society visiting teacher, as a Lehi Fifth Ward choir member for 30 years, and was in the singing mothers choir. She also was an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple for many years. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She loved to travel and was able to see many places in the world. She also compiled volumes of obituaries of Lehi residents which have been used extensively for genealogical work. She was a member of the Liahonian Literary Club which initiated the beautification of the Lehi Cemetery. She is survived by her three daughters: Mrs. LaVerl (Glennis) Devey, and Mrs. Mont (Vicki Jo) Peterson, Lehi; and Mrs. Stanley D. (Linda) Allman, Orem; a sister-in-law, Mrs. John Ralph (Angie) Goates; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn John Wing; brothers, Blaine and John Ralph Goates; and sisters, Thelma Goates Webb and Edith Goates Singleton; and a great granddaughter, Breanna Peterson. Graveside services held Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 in the Lehi City Cemetery, 400 E. 1100 No. Published in the Salt Lake Tribune on 10/12/2004. Burial: 14 October 2004
