marine engineer, D.M. Picton Towing Co. Father: Theo C. Becker, Sr., b. Germany Mother: Frances B. Dailey, b. Morgan City, La informant: Gus Becker, Jr. Gus Becker, Sr., 61, marine engineer for D.M. Picton company for 30 years and well known in the Sabine district, died at his home 4005 Avenue A, at 4:40 a.m. Friday. Becker, who had been ill since May, was first engineer of the tug boat Stella for 21 years. He was a native of New Orleans and lived in both Port Arthur and Sabine before moving to Beaumont 25 years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Woodmen of the World, and the Baptist church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roberts Funeral chapel, with the Rev. J. Ralph Grant, pastor of First Baptist church in charge. He will be buried in Magnolia cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rena Becker, and two sons, John and Gus Becker, Jr., all of Beaumont; one daughter, Mrs. A.E. Nobles of Vallejo, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Julia Dyer, Jacksonville, Fla.; his father, T.C. Becker, Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
