De Witt Fowles was the son of La Fayette and Cora (Hartenbower) Fowles. He married Rosa Bell Poage September 14, 1910 in Clayton, St. Louis County, Missouri. They were the parents of five known children: Lewis F., Dorothy B., Grace C., JoAnn and Alice Jean Fowles.
