published in the Lawton Constitution (Lawton, Oklahoma) 25 Jul 1958, pg 13 - Joe P Babek, 62, a former resident of Lawton, died Sunday at Los Angeles, Calif., of a heart attack. Babek was born Sept. 1, 1895, At Ennis, Texas, and moved with his family to Prague, Okla. in 1902. He served with the Rainbow Division in France during World War I. After being separated from the Army, he was married to the former Emma Womastek and they lived at Oklahoma City until moving to Lawton in 1938. In 1942 he moved to Los Angeles. He was a member of the Lawton Church of Blessed Sacrament while living here. Funeral services are scheduled at 8 a.m. Wednesday at St Joseph's church in Oklahoma City. Rosary services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hanh-Cook mortuary in Oklahoma City. Survivors include a son, Joseph Babek, Vian, Okla.; six brothers, Matthew Babek, San Pedro, Ore.; Frank and John Babek, Ennis, Texas; Bohumil and Steve Babek, Lawton, and Charlie Babek, Prague; and three sisters, Mrs Anna Szatkowski and Mrs Alice Olson, Lawton, and Mrs Mary Mikula, Ennis, Tex.
