Father: James Smith Mother: Jane Johnson OBITUARY: PROVOAN DIES AT 88 Mrs. Fanny Shearsmith Whimpey, 88, Provo, died Sunday morning at the Central Utah Convalescent Center in Orem after a long illness and causes incident to age. She was born Sept. 15, 1876, in Hedon, Yorkshire, England, a daughter of James and Jane Johnson Smith. She married Walter Shearsmith in England on April 13, 1900. She came to the United States as a convert to the LDS Church in 1910 after the death of her husband in 1908. She worked at Provo and at Saratoga Resort in Lehi. She married Hyrum Isaac Whimpey on Nov. 1, 1920. They made their first home in Santaquin and then moved to Carbon County. She and her husband operated a small restaurant in Price known as Mickey's Place for 14 years. In 1939 they returned to Provo when they retired. Her husband died in August 1952. Mrs.Whimpey was active in the Provo Fifth Ward Relief Society where she served as magazine representative for several years and later as garment representative. She served as chairman of the quilting committee and sang with the Singing Mothers and the ward choir. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. H.C. (Doris) Thompson and Mrs. Mary Ensign both of Salt Lake; Mrs. A.G. (Nancy) Armstong, Provo; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jane Richardson, Withernsea, Yorkshire, England. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Provo Fifth Ward Chapel. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Berg Mortuary of Provo and also at the mortuary Wednesday until 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. 1st Husband: Walter Shearsmith (1872-1908) m. 1900 ---Died in the Hull Royal Infirmary and interred at the Western Cemetery 2nd Husband: Levi Carlos Snow (1864-1954) m. 1910 d. 1913 3rd Husband: Edwin Ruthvin Johnson m. 1917 4th Husband: Hyrum Isaac Whimpey m. 1920 Burial: 16 July 1965
