Bio

Samuel Augusta was the next-to-last child of Elias McCarley and Margaret Hester Earp McCarley. Samuel Augusta McCarley married 8 Dec 1878 Tippah (now Union) Co., MS, Adeline Elizabeth Nabors. Sam McCarley was in business in Guntown: the 1900 census showed him as a grocer; the 1910 census as a retail merchant, general store; the 1920 census as merchant, general merchandise; and by the 1930 census he was retired. Sam and Lizzie's son, Bonnie, followed Sam in business: in the 1920 census, he was a merchant, general merchandise, and in 1930 he was a proprietor, general store.
