Bio

My paternal grandfather, Clarence G. "Boots" Grimes was a longtime caretaker of the Bailey Cemetery, located bordering the Grimes family homestead in Mt. Joy, Maury County, Tennessee. Bailey Cemetery is, essentially, a family cemetery, with several generations of Bailey and Grimes family, and related families interred there. Amongst his many other obligations, which included full time farmer, as well as 'graveyard shift' crane operator for Victor/Stauffer chemical companies, my grandfather saw to it that Bailey Cemetery was beautifully manicured and well-kept throughout his adulthood. As most of his nearest and dearest relatives were buried in Bailey Cemetery, the caretaker position was, for my grandfather, a labor of love. It is sadly ironic to note that my grandfather died of a heart attack while mowing the grass in Bailey Cemetery, where his first son, father, mother, and many other beloved relatives lie in repose.
