Lon Smith Lon Morgan Smith, 76, of 109 Michel Lane died at 5:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital. He was born March 29,1906 in Brown County to Newt and Ozella Odom Smith. Mr. Smith married Orbyrie Martin on Oct. 3, 1938 in Granbury. The former Winnsboro resident was a member of the Heights Baptist Church in Texas City and had previously been employed as a chief engineer for the Lykes Steamship Company. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Tapp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. LB. Morgan officiating. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Morgan Smith of Corpus Christi; a sister, Mrs. Mary Dean Moran of Houston; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Aldie Smith, in 1959. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Pat Attaway, Bill Martin, Don Walters, Jerald Walters, Jackie Moran and Johnny Cooper.
