J.P. Gaston 1927 - 2012 Funeral services for J.P. Gaston, 85, of Alba were held Thursday, May 10, at Miracle Faith Baptist Church in Emory. Rev. Jim Parker and Rev. Mike Davidson officiated. Interment was in Emory City Cemetery. Pallbearers were E.O. Gaston, Johnny Ray Bates, Jay Gaston, David Gaston, Billy Gaston and Kenny Lee Gaston. Honorary pallbearer was Dwayne Gaston. Mr. Gaston died Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born on January 16, 1927, in Aspermont to Elmer Hendon and Myrtle Gertrude Miller Gaston. He married Ellie Mae "Trixie" Melton in Jayton in 1947. Mr. Gaston was a member of Miracle Faith Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Mars Hill Lodge. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for a period of time. He was a truck driver for a propane company. Survivors include sons, Jerry Lee Gaston and wife Dot of Azle, and Michael Jay Gaston and wife LeAnn of Frogville, Oklahoma; daughters, Elizabeth Diane Dunlap of Emory, and Trudie Hopson and husband Harold of Conroe; brother, Tommy Gaston and wife Helen of Emory; sisters, Erlene Bates of Golden, and Mary Lee of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Gaston was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Oscar Gaston and Bailey Gaston; sister, Beulah Joyce Gaston; and one grandson, Gerald Wayne Dunlap
