Bill Lunsford, 81, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Elgin Nursing and Rehab Center in Elgin, Tx. Bill was born on June 20, 1930 in Palestine, Texas; the son of L.C. and Ovie Lunsford. He married JoAnn Gallagher on February 4, 1955 in Spur, Texas. Bill worked as a driller for Texas Crushed Stone and in the HVAC business until retirement. He was a member of First Christian Church in Elgin. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, supporting and cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events. He enjoyed woodworking and could fix anything that was broken. He was a kind and gentle man that loved God and his family. He worked hard and found enjoyment in helping others. He never met a stranger and loved telling his stories of his childhood and the Korean War. He served in the Army and was Honorably discharged in 1951. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Lunsford of Elgin; son, Billy Lunsford and wife Sami of Pflugerville; daughters, Anita Dunkin and husband Jimmy of Paige and Montie Carey and her husband Ronny of Houston. Grandchildren are Dawn and Ronnie Jenkins of Childress, Chad Dunkin of Houston; Aaron Carey of Houston and Cody, Cayla and Cole Lunsford of Pflugerville. Great grandchildren are Drew and Kade Jenkins of Childress. Sisters, Becky Conners, Ruth Oliver, Mary Finley and Billie Sue Burris. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Ovie Lunsford and brother, Donald Lunsford. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Tx. Interment will follow at Youngs Prairie Cemetery in Elgin. Services are entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin. Published in Austin American-Statesman on May 16, 2012
