No service will be held for Jay Dee Clark,85, at his request. Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane is in charge of arrangements. Jay Dee was born in 1936 to Minnie Davis and Harvey Clark, in Oakes, N.D. He passed away March 3, 2012. Jay's family moved to Idaho in 1936 to settle west of Post Falls. He attended school in the old rock school house and went to Post falls High School. In 1943 he joined the U.S,. Navy and became a Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class. He took part in several invasions in the South Pacific. He received the Pacific Medal with 6 battle stars, Philippine Liberaton Medal with 2 stars, and Presidential Citation Commendation from the Secretary of the Navy. After the war, he became a flight instructor at Sandpoint and Bonner Ferry, Idaho. He then married Hazel Moore of Hot Springs, S.D., in Coeur d'Alene. Jay and Hazel moved to Kellogg, where he went to work for Bunker Hill and became an electrician. He retired when Bunker Hill shut down. He was a Past Master of the Wardner Lodge of the Order of Masons, Past High Priest of Royal Arch of Masons, member if Knights Templar and Calam Shrine. He was also a lifetime member if the V.F.W. and the Kellogg Elks. Jay was a member of the Bunker Hill Chapter of Eastern Star. Jay was a 23 gallon blood donor. He is survived by his daughter Christine Ann (Benjamin)Ochoa , of Smelterville, Idaho; grandson Michael Knauss and great-grandson Kristofer Knauss of Ventura, Calif. and sister Eileen Chesser of Mount Pleasant, S.C. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, his parents and a sister Rosella Nichols of Spokane. Private burial will be on March 9, 2012 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Post Falls, Idaho.
