Bio

Mrs. Evelyn Carroll (Mom-N-Law), age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 10, 2012 at Houston Hospice, with cancer. She was born July 10, 1929 in Fayetteville, Texas to Frank and Petrolina Kocurek. She married Earl Ray Carroll in 1947. Evelyn worked at C. E King High School in the school cafeteria in Sheldon where she and Earl Ray resided until his retirement in 1975. They moved to the Crockett area where they enjoyed retirement and working occasional jobs at the Crockett Family Resort onHoustonCounty, a working cattle ranch in Jewett and her furniture upholstery business. Evelyn was blessed with a very active lifestyle able to maintain her two acres in Crockett mowing, tilling and planting her garden, harvesting and shelling pounds of pecans, quilting, doing her woodworking projects, fishing (her and Aunt Georgies' favorite time) and doing crossword and picture puzzles. She enjoyed her weekend phone calls with her sister, Georgia and her Cousin Martha reminiscing about the good old days. Left to honor Evelyn, and remember her love are Evelyn's one daughter: Connie Mahaffey and son-in-law Jim; sister: Georgia Brocato; special friend: Mary Mahaffey; eight grandchildren; Tamara Kinback, Tonya Heuer, Terria Jones, Jon Wilcox, Misty Ballenger, Sonya, Eric, and Erica Mahaffey; twelve great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Vanessa, Allison, and Emily (Barge), Amanda and Bryana (Jones), Karly and Dean (Wilcox), Heather and Nick (Coon), Summer (Mahaffey), and JT (Ballenger); three great-great-grandchildren: Joslyn and Dione Barge, Aslyn Coon and numerous nieces and nephews. Also to be included are her special friends Helen and Albert Harris, who helped to watch out for her at her home in Crockett. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ray, her daughter Patricia Carroll, and grandchildren Ricky and Latisha (Mahaffey). Evelyn will be remembered as the best Mother, Mom-N-Law, Grandma, Granny, Aunt, Sister and friend. She will be missed by all. Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Carroll will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Percilla.
