Bio

Phyllis Leone Lepant, 89, of Grand Island, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Northridge Assembly of God, 3025 Independence Ave, Grand Island. Pastor Mark Oberbeck will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Lepant was born on September 20, 1926 southwest of Mason City, NE, to Edward and Frances (Armagost) Parker. She attended Union Hill Grade School, graduated from Mason City High School in 1943, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Kearney State College in 1977. She taught in the rural schools of West Happy Hollow and King School in Custer County, Broken Bow Public Schools, Sts. Peter and Paul School at St. Paul, Blessed Sacrament in Grand Island, and District 15 rural school at Hastings. Always staying busy, Phyllis also enjoyed quilting, embroidery, reading and canning. She was united in marriage to Joseph F. Lepant, Jr. on June 16, 1948, at St. Joseph's Church in Broken Bow. The couple lived in Broken Bow until 1955 when they relocated to Grand Island. Mrs. Lepant was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center and Northridge Assembly of God and the M.N.O. Extension Club. Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Virginia Lepant of Lincoln; three daughters and a son-in-law, Rose and David Haggard, Jane Lepant both of Grand Island and Dora Cunningham of Central City; ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph on May 9, 2012; her parents; brother, Mark Parker and sister, Dorotha Lind.
