NO HEADSTONE John was the oldest of four children born to Eli A. and Cornelia A. (Beene) Gentry. He married Lula Martha Hodnet and they were the parents of four children: James Ervin, Ethel C., Ida Mae and Laura Jesse. Brownwood Newspaper, Brownwood, TX November 22, 1943 Gentry Funeral Is Held Today Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Austin-Morris Funeral Home Chapel for John C. Gentry, 60, who resided at 1207 Melwood and who died at 2 p.m. Sunday in a local hospital following an illness of several days. Rev. J. M. Cooper was in charge of the services and burial was in Greenleaf cemetery. Mr. Gentry was born Jan. 20 1883, in Stephens county and had been a resident of Brown county for 39 years. He is survived by his wife; a son, James E. Gentry of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Robert Lockman and Miss Jessie Gentry of Brownwood; his father, E. A. Gentry of Brownwood; a brother, D. Gentry of Tecumseh, Okla,; two sisters, Mrs. B. C. Grey of Commanche and Mrs. G. W. Williams of Long Beach, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ralph Kingston, Joe Houchabee, M. E. Goddard, Truman Harlowe, J. H. Brocke and H. C. Lackey.
